Making face cream with Jojoba Oil

What you’ll need:

  • Kitchen scale
  • Mixing bowls (2)
  • Hand mixer (or whisk)
  • Double boiler (or heatproof bowls that fit snugly over a pot of water)
  • Spoon
  • Rubber spatula
  • Sterilized jar (for storage)

Ingredients to make 100g (or approximately 100ml) of Face cream :

  • 60g (Approximately 60ml) Virgin coconut oil – You can add shea butter or extra virgin olive oil as you like
  • 8g tablespoon Emulsifying wax
  • 40g cup Water (distilled is best, but tap water works too)

Let’s get mixing!

  1. Melt Together: Using a double boiler, melt the virgin coconut oil and emulsifying wax together on low heat. Keep an eye on it to avoid overheating.
  2. Watery Blend: In a separate bowl, heat the water until just simmering.
  3. Emulsion Magic: Slowly drizzle the warm water into the cooled oil mixture while whisking constantly. This creates a stable emulsion, where the oil and water can coexist in a creamy blend.
  4. Whip It! Once everything is combined, grab your hand mixer and whip the mixture for 3-5 minutes. This incorporates air and creates a light and fluffy texture. If you don’t have a mixer, use a whisk with some determined whisking!
  5. Cool Down: Let the mixture cool completely at room temperature. This can take 10-15 minutes. Add 1ml, 2ml of essential oils, Vitamin E as you like.
  6. Store it Pretty: Pour your finished face cream into a sterilized jar and seal it tightly.

Top Tips:

  • Virgin coconut oil is solid at room temperature. If your cream feels too firm, place the jar in warm water for a few minutes to soften it.
  • Homemade face cream has a shorter shelf life. Keep it in the refrigerator for up to 2 months. Because we do not use any preservatives,
  • Start small! This recipe makes a single jar. Once you get comfortable, try adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil for a delightful scent!

Enjoy pampering your skin with this natural creation! This simple DIY face cream lets you ditch the mystery of store-bought products and embrace the power of virgin coconut oil. So go forth, mix, match, and moisturize!
